FileMaker Cloud AWS End of Life and Migration Options
Claris announced on August 19 that FileMaker Cloud for AWS will end support on January 4, 2022. This is entirely surprising as in June the newest version of FileMaker Server was released to be compatible with the Ubuntu Linux distribution as the CentOS end-of-life had been announced. If you use FileMaker Cloud for AWS, what are your options moving forward?

Should you stay with FileMaker Cloud or switch to FileMaker Server?
Generally speaking, if you’re presently using FileMaker Cloud for AWS and you're pleased with your current service, you should be able to stay with FileMaker Cloud.
That said, if you’re looking to expand your database capabilities, reach your customers in new ways with new offerings, reduce overhead costs, or implement a growth-based business plan—then we highly recommend reviewing FileMaker Server as it has the possibility to better suit your needs.
Advanced Features Supported with FileMaker Server and FileMaker Cloud
If you need any of these supported features—or are looking to add them in the near future—then FileMake Server is usually the best option forward for you.
Automated Processes with FileMaker Server and FileMaker Cloud
The automated processes within FileMaker Cloud makes it accessible to the organization that doesn’t have the skillset or time to keep up with server maintenance. However, this can also be a pitfall if an automatic upgrade fails mid-process, or it upgrades to a buggy or flawed version. The manual upgrade and deployment processes with FileMaker Server allows for greater control.
